Each programme in the Open Door series is a single documentary that runs for a TV half hour: you will be applying for one of these slots.

Open Door is about people telling their stories, rather than investigative journalism.

Before you apply, we recommend going to nzonscreen and having a look at our programmes on there (you'll find a number of clips on this site you can watch too). Also, if you go to our archives, you’ll find brief descriptions of the programmes we’ve already made – be sure to click on Series 10 and Series 9 to see the most recent ones. That way, you should have a good idea of what we’re looking for and what we offer.

Be specific! You need to identify clearly the main issues that you want the programme to highlight, and - if possible at this point - the people who are best able to talk about them. Also, if you know of any events or occasions that would provide visual material for the programe, tell us about those too.

But the bottom line is that initially we just need a basic idea that we can expand on: we're happy to help you with everything else. Just give us a call.
